In October 2023, I interviewed Jeff, a dad whose son Austin transitioned from earth in what seemed to be a horribly senseless way. This twenty-four year-old had been away from his Wisconsin home for six months while working as a financial planner in Arizona. During that time, his parents moved to a different house in an area that Austin wasn’t familiar with. Austin came home in the winter to celebrate his brother’s graduation and see family and friends.
After visiting with friends, he tried to go home via an Uber. However, due to GPS complications from a severe winter storm, he was dropped off at the wrong house. A second Uber also delivered him to the wrong place. After that, Austin’s cell phone died due to severe cold so he couldn’t call his parents. He knocked on doors of several homes, but no would let him in or listen to his pleas. Austin tried to flag down cars but, likewise, no one stopped to help. Eventually, his body succumbed to the severe cold and froze to death.
The night after that interview, I slept for a few hours before awakening suddenly with deep feelings of sadness and rage. I immediately thought of my interview with Jeff and what appeared to be such a senseless and preventable tragedy. What kind of world has ours become when a fine young man – or anyone for that matter? – freezes to death because no one helps? How have we, as individuals and a society, become so calloused, hopeless, and afraid that we allow this and many other horrible outcomes to occur?
As is always my intention, I quickly pivoted to searching for silver linings. I shared this heart-breaking story with Gary E. Schwartz PhD. After wiping tears from our eyes and feeling a gamut of emotions, we realized: this tragic event and others like it can become rallying points and wake-up calls to find and share meta-blessings that always accompany tragedy.
In 2024, I spoke at a Helping Parents Heal conference with over 1100 parents who had one or more children pass on. On the first day, I talked about the ‘your children can help heal the world’ theme. At that moment, I glanced up for a second; in that instant, I saw and felt legions of ‘kids’ hovering around the vaulted ceiling and in many layers above into the clouds. They were smiling, cheering, and very happy that I finally got it.
Two days later, I met with Dr. Schwartz and six of our evidential mediums. Someone asked if anyone had been receiving messages from ‘spirit world’ that they are working on healing many people and our world. Everyone had in one way or another. This news was especially impactful for me given the events above.
Two weeks later, I presented to a large group of parents on a Helping Parents Heal webinar. I shared my growing feeling and clear vision at the conference that ‘meta-blessings’ can result from:
Just then, Elizabeth Boisson – co-founder and president of that group – excitedly added: “The phrase that kept resonating within me after my son Morgan transitioned was: ‘Our connection with the children on the other side will ultimately save the world.’” She later wrote to me: “I heard this phrase frequently, but didn’t understand what it meant. Now, with time and reflection, I understand.” In the ten plus years we had worked together, I never heard Elizabeth talk about this.
All this convinced me that the time has come for widespread conscious living that will greatly benefit you, many people, and our planet. Achieving those goals may sound impossible but evidence-based information and holistic resources makes reaching personal and global harmony a practical possibility.
