My daughter Leona came through to Kathy MacMannis tonight during a Gallery Reading, the day of my birthday.
Kathy started by saying she had a little one coming through, she asked to come right to me because she felt it was Leona. She asked if I sit in Leona’s room and read books, this is something my husband and I have continued to do since Leona’s passing. She said Leona sees us reading to her and will crawl into my lap. She said I am able to feel Leona’s presence and Leona will play with my hair as I sit and read to her. This is something Leona would do each night as we read bedtime stories. She would self-soothe by either playing with her hair or mine as I read to her. Kathy also mentioned an elephant, this comes up frequently in readings, Leona loved a ceramic elephant that sat on her shelf, after she got her pajamas on I’d let her look at the elephant and she would make the elephant trumpet noise. She mentioned dressy shoes, as Kathy brought this up I looked right over to the shoes sitting in Leona’s room, she loved that they were glittery and she would exclaim, “shiny!” Kathy mentioned us looking out the window with Leona and pointing to our surroundings, Leona called out looking at the stars with us now. Kathy also captured Leona’s personality, saying she was so happy and loved to dance. We often had music playing and Leona would be bopping to the beat or twirling and laughing. She also mentioned jewelry I have for Leona, I believe Leona was mentioning a bracelet I received the day before from another mom with a letter “L” on it for Leona.
Towards the end of the reading, Kathy asked why she was seeing icing. I told Kathy today is my birthday and my mom brought over a cake. We talked about how Leona would have loved celebrating and having cake.
I cannot say enough how much this reading meant to me. All day, I was wishing Leona would be with us on my birthday and I know she nudged Kathy to come directly to me. I am so grateful to Kathy and Leona for this special gift.
