My reading with Kathi Berhens was truly a gift, filled with beautiful, heartwarming validations and very specific evidence of my son Murphy.
Just before the reading, Murphy’s sister was sharing how much she wished he would mention his dog. His dog was his best friend, and he is still a huge part of our lives now. We have deeply wanted Murphy to acknowledge him in a reading, so when Kathi immediately described a dog with “crazy ears,” it was incredibly comforting. That is exactly how we have always described his floppy, adorable ears.
Kathi also brought through very accurate details about Murphy’s life. He passed in his twenties, his birthday is in December, and she mentioned February being important, which is meaningful to me as my 50th birthday is coming up next month. She also described a special space in our home with candles and photos where we talk to Murphy, which we do have.
Kathi then described seeing a very special piece of black-and-white artwork with a frame around it, which deeply moved me. I had recently talked about framing a very special Valentine’s artwork Murphy made in kindergarten, a black-and-white poem surrounded by a big heart. When I unpacked that artwork after bringing it home from New York to Florida, the song “You’ll Be in My Heart” began playing behind me on my Google speaker. That song has been ours since he was little. He still played it in his twenties and told friends it was a song I used to sing to him, so it holds deep meaning for me.
Kathi also referenced song lyrics that I did not recognize at the time, but Murphy’s sister did. He was a huge Mötley Crüe fan, and the message he shared was specifically for his sister, which she understood. She even bought a Mötley Crüe shirt to wear in his honor after he transitioned.
Kathi also shared that Murphy knows I truly feel his energy, and she validated that I feel and hear him very strongly. That meant so much to me because I absolutely do. She also mentioned that he pushed me to do this reading, and I am so grateful I listened.
