We were fortunate to have a reading from Stacey Lynn Cripps at the Long Island North Shore HPH group last night. Stacey was connecting with a girl that was very soft spoken, like a whisper, and that girl was very angelic. That's our daughter, MaryEllen! She was nonverbal but did make whisper sounds all the time. She had a trach, so we really didn't hear her “voice” that often.
Stacey heard classical music connected with MaryEllen. We did listen to that type of music quite often; mostly Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the Beethoven Lives Upstairs CD. Stacey asked if there was a connection with a musical or a play that MaryEllen attended. Yes, indeed! My husband and I took MaryEllen (and her brother, Kevin) to see The Lion King on Broadway. That was a special “just us” day for them.
We then told Stacey that MaryEllen’s brother was with her in spirit. She also connected with Kevin and was spot-on describing their relationship: MaryEllen, sweet and angelic, and Kevin learning from MaryEllen “how to be” in heaven. Even though both kids were nonverbal, their personalities were exactly as Stacey described—MaryEllen, the teacher, and Kevin, the fun guy that was being reined in. LOL. Kevin loved and laughed at all of life’s fun, edgy things… bad words, people tripping and falling, and listening to people complain.
Stacey saw the importance of a Christmas tree with the kids. Yes, we always put up a large, beautifully decorated, kid-themed tree in the kids’ room. She asked if we were doing that this year. I said I didn’t think so. She told us, “Yes, you are!” So we will do that in loving memory of them, our first holiday without both of them here physically.
In the beginning of the reading, before Stacey was aware of MaryEllen’s and Kevin’s earthly limitations, she said something was important about a phone or phone call with MaryEllen. While that did not resonate in the moment, this morning, completely out of the blue, a song came to my mind. I knew the gist, so I asked ChatGPT, “What is the song where the lyrics are ‘I just came to say I love you’?” Of course, the song is “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” Thanks, ChatGPT and Stacey! Perfect validation and now another song on my MaryEllen and Kevin playlist.
Thank you so much, Stacey, for this wonderful connection with our kids. And yes, Kevin, you are an angel too. He said that to Stacey as she was describing angelic MaryEllen. My heart!!!
