Tena Calderone
I am Tena Calderone, and I am mother to 3 grown boys, and a step daughter I raised. My middle son Brendon crossed over 9-27-20 on his 37th birthday, the result of a hiking accident in the mountains outside Seattle.   Nothing could have prepared me for a loss of this magnitude, not even the passing of my husband in 2014.  I was paralyzed by grief, and could not imagine my life going on without Brendon.
I tried traditional grief counseling, and a faith based grief group, that would not allow any discussion about mediums. I listened to hundreds of podcasts and read voraciously about the afterlife.  I had 4 incredible readings and all told me the same details about Brendon’s crossing, and I know without a doubt that our loved ones are still here.
I found out about HPH in 2021, and attended the conferences in 2022 and 2024.  Both were instrumental to my healing journey and becoming a shining light parent.
I get so many signs from Brendon, and it is because of his guidance that it is time for me to step up and help others on this journey. I can hear him say “you go mom!”
Carla Johnson
I became a Shining Light Parent in March of 2022 when my son, Kyle, had a mountaineering accident in Germany. Kyle immediately began sending me signs! With the help of HPH I have learned so many dierent modalities to continue my relationship and communication with Kyle.
I will be forever grateful for the work of the organization and look forward to creating community and helping other parents on their journeys.

Renee Novotny

Hello, I'm Renee Novotny and I live in Asheville, NC. My son Ryan Wong, forever 27, loved nature and hiking Colorado's 14ers. On February 24, 2023, Ryan's adventurous soul left his body during an ice climbing accident. Our family began experiencing beautiful signs and miracle moments while Ryan was in ICU.

I attended WNC HPH's first meeting in March 2023. Through HPH, I discovered how I can continue to have a relationship with my son in spirit. I love communicating with Ryan, especially while hiking. Our bond continues to grow as we share memories and new experiences together.

I'm honored to co-facilitate our WNC HPH group alongside Kelley Worth, fostering hope, healing, and compassion with our members. We believe our children in spirit lovingly guide us, inspiring us to embrace life fully while honoring their memories, as we navigate our grief and healing journeys together.
