Please join me, Kathy MacMannis, Rosanne Norris, Patti May, and Irene Vouvalides in welcoming our newest Co-Affiliate Leader; Debra Sobrack who will be joining Deanna Galkiewicz in Buffalo, NY! Welcome to our team, Debra!
Deanna Galkiewicz:
I lost my first-born son Matthew at age 25 to the disease of addiction in 2011. Not religious, nor having really considered the afterlife, it surprised me to just “know” he was around and wanted to contact me (He did).
I spent the next several years vacillating between unimaginable pain and tremendous awe as he guided my journey. My son is not gone and wants me happy. I have to make the decision every day to live with joy rather than grief. Meditation, energy work, and gratitude help give me balance.
I am excited to lead the Helping Parents Heal affiliate in the Buffalo area. It is so powerful when our children get us all in one room to celebrate their lives and communications! The love is palpable.
I look forward to meeting you.
Debra Soback:
My name is Deb Soback. My husband Ed, and I have been married for 51 years. We live in the Fingerlakes Region of New York in a small town called Canadice. We have three children, Jamie , Jacelyn and John.
Jamie has given us two beautiful Granddaughters, Jordyn and Bryana. My son Jamie made the decision to transition on November 17, 2021. His transition shook us to our very soul. We were not sure how we were going to help our other two children and Granddaughters when we were having difficulty navigating our day to day activities. I knew some parents that were involved in HPH and I looked for the closest group and joined the Buffalo Chapter.
Jamie started sending signs right away and finds very inventive ways to let us know he is walking this path with us. My husband was not seeing the signs for himself in the beginning. I had asked Jamie to give his Dad a sign he couldn’t miss. Later that day we were out on our motorcycle and I looked in the sky and there was a perfect letter J. I got my husband’s attention and he pulled over to admire my son’s undeniable sign letting us know he is with us all the time. This is when we started on the journey of living life again with our new normal. Then on November 29, 2023, Jamie’s youngest daughter gave birth to our first Great Grandson, Elias James. We can feel our son around Elias all the time.
I love our meetings and am very excited to be able to contribute to HPH and hopefully help other parents on their journey to becoming shining light parents.
