Please join me, Kathy MacMannis, Rosanne Groover Norris, Patti May, and Irene Vouvalides in welcoming the new co‑Affiliate Leaders for HPH - India, Deepa Kulkarni, Hetal Dave, and Shini Nair, who join Chandra Ramamurthy. We are so grateful to have them on board!
Chandra Ramamurthy:
My name is Chandra Ramamurthy. I live in Mumbai, India, and speak English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telegu, with limited fluency in Gujarati, Bengali and Dutch. In 2017, following a life-threatening accident involving my husband, my son disclosed his struggle with depression. Despite therapy and medication, he left home on the night of 23rd September 2018- to never return. We later found his body off the coast of Mumbai and believe he died by suicide. Naman was our everything. HPH provided me with vital support—helping me find strength, connection, and understanding among others who have walked a similar path. This support inspired me to pursue a PhD focused on suicide and postvention, with the hope of contributing to meaningful change in adolescent mental health. I continue to work in mental health while serving HPH India, holding space for parents like me who are navigating profound loss.

Deepa Kulkarni:
Hi. I am Deepa and I live in Gurgaon, India. My son Pravir passed on in January 2000, and since then I find myself drawn towards activities that help empower people, be it teaching, mentoring or reaching out to moms like me who have lost children. The last 25 years have seen me seek solace in spirituality, mindfulness and gratitude for Pravir’s fleeting presence in my life. HPH has brought me- not just an understanding of signs and mediums- but also support from women who traverse a similar emotional path, with grief being an uninvited guest. I hope to hold space for others on a similar journey, with empathy and presence, whenever needed. I speak English, Kannada, Hindi, Telegu fluently and understand Tamil, Marathi and Bengali well.

Hetal Dave:
My name is Hetal from Darwin, Australia. Our only son Aditya, we call him Adi was full of life, very happy, energetic and ambitious. He was our reason to live, our sole purpose in life. We lost him in November 2024. HPH gave me strength in many ways. We all know this so well that no matter how much we want our kids back in our life that is not possible, but HPH showed me the hope to keep looking for signs from my son and gave me not only hope but belief that he is still with us. I am grateful in so many ways to HPH and also grateful to know so many wonderful people who are walking in the same difficult path as me and are giving strength and support in our darkest moments.

Shini Nair:
My name is Shini Nair, born a Keralite but have been residing in Ahmedabad for more than 30 years. By profession, I was a teacher and a counsellor at school, which I have left. I have recently started working part-time as a content developer and soft skills trainer. My husband is working in Singapore, so I spend my year between Singapore and India. I was 25 when Siddharth came into my life, and since then he is the light of my life. On the morning of July 14th 2022, he moved on from his physical form on this earth to a more evolved world. He was out on his morning motor bike ride when a fatal accident shattered the world that we lived in. I was told about HPH through a friend, who had heard about it from someone, and I joined in late 2022. Since then HPH has been a group where I feel safe and know that there are people who understand what I am going through without any judgement.
