Rainey and Caitlin / Caitlin / Stacey Lynn Cripps
I participated last week in an online session with Stacey Lynn Cripps. At the end of the session, she gave me a beautiful reading from my daughter.
Some things I was able to validate to Stacy at the time, but there were some other validations that didn't get discussed.
Stacy mentioned the name Katherine or Kate. My daughter's name is Caitlin. It also happens that both her mother-in-law and her best friend are Katherine.
Stacy mentioned a young woman with long dark hair and a salon/hairdresser. My daughter had long blond hair, but as she got older she did take steps to keep it lighter, as it was naturally turning darker. She lost her hair due to chemo, and it was coming in darker. I've included photos. She did not go to a salon often, as she wore her hair long. But...when she found out that she was going to lose her hair due to chemo, she talked about wanting to do something funky with it before that happened - cut it short and dye it. A hairdresser reached out to her and then came to the hospital. I was there when the hairdresser cut her hair and dyed it purple.
Stacy mentioned a son, and my daughter did leave behind a very young son, as well as a daughter. Stacy asked about a name with a "Y" in it and mentioned the name "Ryan". My granddaughter is named Rainey. Stacy brought up the number 6. My granddaughter was six years old when her mother transitioned.
Stacy mentioned a feeling across the chest. At the end of my daughter's fight with cancer, she contracted parainfluenza and ended up in respiratory distress. She had to be intubated. Stacy mentioned an ankle or foot problem. My daughter's cancer had spread to her spine, affecting her noticeably in one leg.
As mentioned, I show photos of my daughter to her children, and I talk to them about their Mama being an angel that is always with them.
I had to laugh when Stacy mentioned me struggling and needing energy to get out of bed in the mornings on days when I take care of the children. My husband did too when he watched the video later. I am definitely not a morning person! Very validating.
The most validating thing for me, as it was very specific, was Stacy bringing up the Rubber Ducky. My daughter often sang the song from Sesame Street to her baby boy. She bought a baby book for him that played songs from Sesame Street and featured the Rubber Ducky song.
I want to thank you for everything you and Helping Parents Heal did and continue to do to make this communication with my daughter possible. I can't express my gratitude enough. I love and miss my daughter so much. How wonderful it was to hear words of love from her!
