Bill is just an ordinary guy who has had extraordinary things happen to him since the passing of his son Greg. Susan writes it all down. The Calgary, Canada affiliate leaders are on an amazing journey with their son.
FINDING HAPPINESS AND JOY
A few weeks after our son Greg passed from this Earth, Bill and I were sitting in a movie theater listening to music playing in the background as we waited for the movie to start, and I said to Bill, "I don't think I'll ever feel happy again."
I felt numb and flat. I felt that I couldn't physically muster a smile, and never would again. I truly believed that any happiness I had in my life was gone, forever.
Just as that statement left my lips, Pharrell Williams' song 'Happy' started to play. It's bouncy and upbeat and uplifting and my tears flowed as I listened. I knew it was Greg saying, 'Hang in there Mom'.
It took me a while to get past the sadness and tears, and sometimes they still leak out, but I do smile and laugh and find joy and happiness in life again. In the 10 1/2 years since Greg passed at the age of 27 from the effects of substance use, he's given us many messages through his Dad about the critical importance of living life to the fullest and not just existing.
Here's what Greg says from his higher perspective about being happy and joyful:
"It is what matters, no matter your circumstances. You must believe that no matter what occurs you will be okay. Trust us when we tell you that you have nothing to fear except fear itself. Do what makes you feel good. Being miserable is not why you came here. To practice the opposite is true. You are here on the earthly plane, so make the most of it, and enjoy yourself.
"There are struggles you endure, and losing a child is no small setback. But to fulfill your reason as to why you came to Earth, you must find the good and positive in what has happened to you in order to carry on and be in alignment with God, our loving Source. Everything is a lesson, no matter how hard, and your goal is to find the joy and peace in all your challenges and achieve happiness."
Being told it's very important to find joy in life after a child passes may sound like a hopeless request, but in another message through his Dad, Greg details how to achieve this seemingly impossible goal:
"Act as if. This is the only way to find joy, the only way to be grateful for what is, the only way to let God provide all He/She has to offer through belief, faith and trust that the Source, our loving God, has your back. Acting as if puts you in the now. It provides an environment where there is no worry, free of fear, just enjoyment and fun. Forget about all the machinations. That is the ego. Faith and trust are the reality. Put aside all concerns, for the manifestations are waiting for you as you act as if. Feel good, be free, have peace, and let the movie unfold...
"Be in the know that you are exactly where you are meant to be on this journey. The surprises to the upside are cracking open the current reality to insert itself with new energy flow as you act as if. AA (Bill joined Alcoholics Anonymous 33 years ago) had the concept: Fake it until you make it. Feelings are everything, and the dominant charge needed to manifest your dreams. The goal is to feel happy, joy and abundance for your world as it has no limits. Just let God, as you let go and act as if."
You can make a choice to find joy and happiness, even if it's a brief moment in the course of your day and even if you have to act "as if" to get there. What brings you happiness and joy? Connecting with nature is a great place to start. Look up at the night sky and marvel at the stars. Take a walk outside and notice the flowers, trees, clouds and birds and all the beauty Mother Nature has to offer.
Happiness and joy are extremely high vibration feelings, and another of Bill's guides has told him that they mimic what our children on the other side experience all the time. Our children want us to bring some of that Heaven to Earth.
Some parents are caught in the belief that they can't feel joy and happiness because it dishonors the memory of their child. As Greg says, the opposite is actually true. Our children in spirit want us to find happiness and joy in life again, and they celebrate when we do! Turn up your light in their honor.
Greg encourages us, as we encourage you, dear Shining Light Parents, to "find the joy buried amidst the tragic moments. It's all about joy and love and having as much fun as you can muster to make this journey a great learning experience and to leave this earthly plane in a better shape for having been here. After you cross the veil and are doing your review, they do ask, 'What did you bring us?'"
Bring Joy!
