Nothing But Love: The Message We Needed
Our daughter Annabelle passed by suicide two years ago. In October, I joined Mollie Morning Star's Zoom Gallery Reading. Mollie knew nothing about us, yet she brought through a shy teenage girl with long hair who felt like “one of two.” Annabelle and her sister look so much alike.
The validations kept coming. There was a messy room with plenty of excuses, and two men she looked up to: her dad and her grandpa. There were little red berries, reminding us of how she used to pick blackberries with her grandpa and sister, coming home with red mouths.
There was a rainbow, representing her little sister in spirit, Irisa, whose name means “rainbow.” And there were cheerleader pom-poms. Annabelle's best friend is a cheerleader and had been trying to decide whether to continue. Knowing that Annabelle's heart is still with her helped her make that decision.
Then came the message we needed most. Annabelle offered nothing but love.
“Love is not the problem,” Mollie said. “Her needs were met.”
We couldn't help her because we had no idea what she was experiencing, and she didn't fully understand it herself.
Those words lifted something in me.
Thank you, Mollie, and thank you, Annabelle. 💜
