Please join me, Kathy MacMannis, Patti May, Rosanne Groover Norris, and Irene Vouvalides in welcoming our newest Affiliate Leaders, Brooke Davis and Nick Martina, of Richmond, VA! We are thrilled that they will be joining us.
Brooke Davis
Hello everyone - I am the mother of two sons from my first marriage, Alex (1997) and Andrew (2001). Mental health issues and addiction in loved ones have been a big part of my story and led me to become yoga and mindfulness certified. In 2010 I married Nick and together we continued to raise my sons and be active members of the Richmond recovery community.
Sadly, Alex relapsed after 5 glorious years of sobriety and died of an accidental Fentanyl overdose in July of 2023. Alex (F26) is still an active part of my life through daily signs and nudges. Helping Parents Heal has been a huge help in processing my grief and beginning to feel hope once more. I look forward to sharing support with other parents in the Richmond VA area as we work together to become shining light parents.
Nick Martina
Hello – I am Nick Martina. My stepson Alex (F 26) transitioned in 2023. Helping Parents Heal has been an important part of my healing since Alex transitioned, especially the Helping Father’s Heal subgroup. There I met other stepparents and fathers who understand my journey and we can share our experiences. I believe that our children are still with us and want nothing more than for us to be happy.
Meetings in the Richmond area will be held in person once a month. Please click here to join our FB group: www.facebook.com/groups/helpingparentshealrichmond/
