I had the privilege of receiving a gallery reading from Maureen Hancock at a recent online Helping Parents Heal event. I had witnessed some amazing readings during her demonstration at the HPH Conference in August and was astounded by the messages she brought through, as well as highly entertained by her wit throughout the readings!

My daughter Allison crossed over on May 2, 2023. I’ve had several private readings and attended many gallery readings, but Allison had NEVER come through as a “volunteer” during a gallery reading. I always attend with hope and ask her to come through, but usually leave with some comforting piggyback messages and, honestly, some disappointment.

I decided to attend Maureen’s gallery with hope once again. I asked Allison to come through, but I had no expectations. What I did differently this time was ask Allison to slow down her energy, as Maureen had suggested at the beginning of the session.

Amazingly, Allison was child number three! The first message she gave Maureen was that she wanted her own piece of paper. I took that as her acknowledgment that I wanted my own reading, not a piggyback message, and Allison was determined to give that to me! That was my first validation.

A second validation was how beautifully Maureen captured the nuances of how Allison was perceived by others and how she perceived herself. Allison was a kind, giving, caring person, but she struggled with mental health challenges and an eating disorder she couldn’t let go of. It was difficult for her to open up and let her guard down.

She was kind to everyone, always willing to listen, offer support, and volunteer to help in whatever way was needed. She had a quick wit and an incredibly fast mind. We used to joke that we couldn’t listen as fast as she talked!

Allison had lots of friends, but only one or two close friends at a time. She always appeared happy, witty, and “chill.” Maureen captured this exactly when she described Allison as being friends with everyone, but not really close to anyone—perhaps just one person. She even used the word “chill,” which was a word Allison often used!

A third validation, which also came with some helpful advice from my daughter, was Allison calling me out for not being able to shut my brain off! Maureen explained that I wasn’t receiving dreams from Allison because my mind never stops working. This has been a big frustration of mine, and I find comfort in knowing that if I can learn to quiet my mind, I may be able to connect with her in my dreams.

Here’s another amazing validation: Maureen brought through the fact that Allison had been present during a conversation I had with her older sister earlier that very day. We had been discussing her sister’s ongoing encouragement for me to move so that I could retire, and my resistance to the idea. Allison shared that she would come with me if I moved!

She also acknowledged my upcoming doctor’s appointment, and Maureen even drew a picture of the procedure I will need. Finally, Allison acknowledged the tattoo her sister has on her wrist of Allison’s initial!

Overall, it was an amazing reading and a beautiful validation that Allison is still with me, along for the ride. She knew exactly what I needed to hear, and Maureen was able to bring her messages through.

At the end of the reading, I felt as though I had just met up with my daughter for coffee!

I am so grateful to Helping Parents Heal and the amazing mediums who work with us parents, bringing hope, comfort, and healing.

Thank you, Maureen, for the biggest gift I could ever ask for—the reassurance that I haven’t really lost my daughter. Our connection continues, and so does our love.
